Interactive exhibition about the skin for kids I Winner of the “Wissenschaft Interaktiv”-Prize 2011

The “Wissenschaft Interaktiv”- or “Science Interactive”-Prize encourages scientists and professional communicators to work together and create an exhibition which presents their field of science across the disciplines so ingeniously and innovatively as to appeal to and be understood by a wider audience. The prize and competition is organized by the “Wissenschaft im Dialog”-organization, Germany’s centre of expertise for science communication, the German “Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft” and the “Schering Stiftung”.

Together with Prof. Dr. Fölster-Holst, Dr. Matthias Buchner, Oliver Grieve and the team of “Universitäts-Hautklinik” Kiel, I developed and designed an interactive exhibition about the skin for kids. The exhibition was called ‘ The skin, my little holy house’ and consisted of 6 little houses, which explained visually, touchable and understandable functions and dysfunctions of our biggest organ. Our concept was chosen for the final of the competition and the houses were built and exhibited at the “Wissenschaftssommer”- exhibition in Mainz in June 2011. The visitors were asked to vote for their favorite team and after four days we won the prize for the best exhibition! The “Wissenschaft Interaktiv”- Prize was connected to a gratification of 10.000€. We feel very honored and are thankful.

The exhibition is extendable and designed as a traveling exhibition. It will be shown at several places within this year. The houses were built by Studio 38, Kiel, DE.
